Wish me luck...

Well, I just wanted to write and get some moral support as I am only beginning the classes and hopefully on May 10th I will receive my chantix. So wish me luck!

Good Luck Shyone! You can do it! It sounds like you're taking all the right steps to prepare yourself. Keep soaking up the information you get in class. It will be difficult, but definitely doable. Let us know how it goes!

GOOD LUCK!!! Something that's helped me stay quit, and hopefully it's still handed out in the classes, is two different sheets; one is titled "Junkie Thinking" - boy, talk about hitting the nail on the head with exactly the reasons why I used to smoke! The other sheet is "The Serenity Prayer for Smokers" - it is simply very, very helpful. I recommend you ask for them, if they still hand them out in class.

Hello Shyone and welcome to the best blog! We have been non-smokers now going on 5 months. We went cold turkey and, in doing so, we found out what those withdrawls were all about; I dont recomment that to anyone. But in doing so because of what we went through we will never want to go through that pain and anger for nothing again. I wish you all the luck in the world. This blog has a lot of fantastic people and just for sharing you can win some spectacular prizes just for that, how about that one? Be good and keep on posting to the blog. Not only does it help to share, you will get some good feed back from everyone.

    Have a great one shyone.

Gannon, my very special friend, I have a question for you. Have you ever been addicted to nicotine? Just curious. Even if you never were, you are a gift to Maricopa County and that is enough for me. I appreciate your support and special thanks for allowing me to use my voice on this wonderful blog. And if you non smokers out there dont know this boy, you need to.

Thanks for your kind words, Summer. I've never been addicted to nicotine, but I have suffered indirectly from the effects of this powerful drug. My grandmother died of lung cancer when I was a kid, a by-product of many years smoking. She was one of my best friends growing up and I have fond memories of times spent with her. It is a privilege to have the opportunity to help others and, if she were still here, I think she'd be proud of my work. I appreciate your willingness to share on the blog; it's a great resource for those learning to live without tobacco. I wish you and your husband the best as you continue to be tobacco-free!
