My first step...
This is my first step in the battle. I have just made the decision to quit smoking. It's great to know that I'm not alone, but it's still extremely scary. I'm going to start the classes this week. I don't know if I should see a doctor for a perscription or if I should start something over the counter like gum. This is not going to be fun...

Congratulations! Sounds like you are ready for a healthier life and aware that getting there could be a challenge. I am a former smoker and used the patch to quit. I also listened to the tape they used to put in the start-up package. My routine every day shower, put on the patch, and listen to the tape on my way to work (no classes offered then). The other thing that helped a lot was deep breathing. So again congrats - if I can do it you can do it. Keep us posted and be sure and get to that class.

Quitter111,
Connie has some good words and apparently has been there like a few of us in the room. Congratulations! It is not easy and I for one won't sugar coat it. You are moving in the right direction; do whatever it takes to quit and stay focused on where you want to be, there are no time limits. We fall down we get back up. You need support? We are here for you.
