Not out of the woods yet...
Still smokeless and hanging tough. My lungs, taste buds, sense of smell, and wallet are happier. My brain is still not convinced. Taking the dog for lots of walks, exercising, drinking water, and chewing up the nicotine gum. I'm not out of the woods yet, riding the ups and downs, temptations, and lure of the NICODEMON! Who else out there is quitting?

Hi Joe,
My name is Summer. My husband and I have been smoke-free for 8 months. Wow, hard to believe. Won't say it has not been a struggle, because it has had its times, but no cheating. Aside from the price of cigarettes the thought of (I am speaking for both of us) going through the withdrawls again --- oh heck no! I am lucky I have friends and family because I was not very nice at times. We quit cold turkey and you know that is the best way because you know what you went through to get rid of the addiction and don't want to go back. We were hypnotized at one time and quit for 10 years, but we were stupid and thought one cigarette would make us cough or gag. Nope it was like we never quit. So we know now not to temp fate and that we can never smoke another cigarette because we will have the same thing happen. This blog is the best, go read some of the archives there is some good stuff in there and the people are for real! Careful...there are some heart wrenching stories out there to tell. An addiction is just what it is but we can help one another or encourage people to quit. We have nothing to lose but a life to live "Smoke Free". Good luck Joe and stay smoklessjoe!

You said you were riding the ups and downs, well keep on riding! That's exactly what you need to do. It may not be easy but it is worth it! It sounds a bit of a cliche, but it will get better in time. You're well on your way, congratulations!
